The Bioscope Outdoor Cinema Presents: NECKTIE YOUTH & LOVE THE ONE YOU LOVE

The Bioscope Independent Cinema and Jameson’s Irish Whiskey proudly present a special cinema series. The films will be screened in interesting rooftops and spaces across Johannesburg.

We return this September for a special double bill screening of the two most exciting local films to have been released this year, Sibs Shongwe-Le Mer's NECKTIE YOUTH and Jenna Bass' LOVE THE ONE YOU LOVE.

VENUE: The Alexander Theatre Rooftop (36 Stiemens St, Braamfontein).

TIME: Doors open at 6pm. NECKTIE YOUTH 7pm. LOVE THE ONE YOU LOVE 9pm.

NECKTIE YOUTH

NECKTIE YOUTH is a dark, humorous story of sex, drugs and adolescent disconnect among the multi-racial elite of Joburg’s affluent Sandton. It follows two young Johannesburg suburbanites, Jabz and September, on a melancholic joyride through their suburban, post-apartheid reality. A suicide that haunts their loosely connected circle of friends anchors this portrait of gilded, affluent South African youth.

LOVE THE ONE YOU LOVE

Across the city of Cape Town, a sex-line operator, a dog handler and a computer technician begin to suspect that their romantic relationships are the subject of a bizarre conspiracy, involving their family, friends, and possibly even greater forces. ‘Love the One You Love’s parallel stories question the ideals we hold too sacred: love, happiness, and the New South Africa; the pursuit of which makes truth impossible.
