With 2016 behind us, lets take a moment to honour the year, all the highs and lows. With a selection of the best performing Bioscope films of the past year, you will have one last chance to catch that film you might have missed. Sprinkled on top of this selection is a collection of films that best encapsulate the moments, the feelings, and general spirit of 2016.
Why? A timeless Bioscope classic that documents a forgotten settlement of Afrikaners in a remote part of Patagonia.
The Boers At The End Of The World
In a remote stretch of Patagonia, Argentina, there is, unbelievably, a 100- year-old community that speaks Afrikaans. After the destruction of the war against the British, these Boers sailed across the ocean to start a new life.
Today, only a few dozen still speak the language and they struggle to keep their culture alive. While some continue the lifestyle of their forefathers, others embrace modern Argentina.
This award-winning documentary is a portrait of the last days of the community and one family's efforts to reconnect with South Africa.
