THE ATTACHMENT

Directed by: Ban Gyi. Drama. Dur: 1hr 43mins.

The Buddhist novice, Shin Wunnathiri, who was the target of denunciation, left his own mother at great personal sacrifice to become a Buddhist monk which he treasured more than his family life. Pyae Sone Khin, who is a spirited, energetic, and deeply religious lady, met the young monk and became his chief lay-supporter. Her conviction was deep and strong, and led her to overdo the support benevolently.

However, the act was disparaged by the surroundings that the lay woman’s feminine beauty was the reason of distracting the young monk from his Pariyatti studies (scriptures). The monk himself avoided his lay-woman and became a recluse in the woods.

The chief female patron felt guilty of her act which caused the outstanding monk to lose his focus on studies and died with remorse. She reincarnated as an animal and kept looking after the monk with that form of life.

Based on a true story, and directed by Ban Gyi, a respected director in Myanmar.
