Outdoor Cinema: Blade Runner (1982)

After years of successful outdoor cinema screenings across the city, The Bioscope Outdoor Cinema has found a new home on the rooftop of Main Street Life, the same building that houses The Bioscope here in Maboneng. With this new base camp, we are excited to host more regular outdoor cinema screenings, something we know you guys have always wanted!  

These screenings will usually take place on a Tuesday evening, and will be announced across all Bioscope social media with dates listed on the Bioscope website. On arrival, meet us at The Bioscope itself, and you will be ushered up to the rooftop venue by Bioscope staff. The screenings will start promptly at 8pm, with access to the venue from 6pm. Your R120 ticket will include bottomless popcorn, and there will be a cash bar set up on the roof, as well as the chance to bring other Bioscope concession up from downstairs. 

With the arrival of Blade Runner 2049 this October, for our first Outdoor Cinema screenings, we journey back to the classic 1980s imagining of a rainy and dystopian 2019. In what is often regarded as one of the greatest science fiction films of all time, a young Harrison Ford is brought back into action as a Blade Runner, a unique law enforcement wing in charge of identifying replicants and sending them into retirement.
