Brendan at Butchers Backyard

A South African Afrikaans singer, Brendan Peyper is known for his hooky mix of modern country and dance-oriented pop. He broke through with his 2015 debut album Stop Wag Bly nog 'n bietjie, and enjoyed further chart success with his sophomore album, 2017's Hy Loop Oop.

Born in 1996 in Bloemfontein, South Africa, Peyper grew up working on his family farm and started playing guitar at age fourteen. As a teenager, he also played rugby and intended to pursue sound engineering. However, by the time he left high school he was gaining fans with his infectious pop melodies. In 2015, he released his full-length debut album Stop Wag Bly nog 'n bietjie, which spawned the hit title-track single.

By the end of 2016 he had also earned two South African Music Award nominations, including for Best Pop Album. In 2017, he returned with his sophomore album, Hy Loop Oop, featuring the tracks "Twee is beter as een" and "Vanaand sê ek net ja." Peyper's third full-length, Dis Nie Sonde Nie, arrived in 2018. The song "Lekkerder Op My Trekker" arrived in March 2020.
