Building Brave Voices is a community street theatre production during the festive season, bringing together storytelling, theatre, music, movement and giant puppets.

ArtStart Clarens, the community arm of the Clarens Arts Festival, takes theatre beyond the traditional stage and onto the streets, creating an experience that belongs to the whole community.

What does “Buying for me and a community member” mean?

Every child deserves to look into the audience and see their family cheering them on.

Sadly, some families cannot afford a ticket, even though they would love to support their children.

By selecting “Buying for me and a community member,” you can make a difference by sponsoring a ticket for an anonymous family member facing financial challenges.

Your kindness will give them the opportunity to witness their child’s talent, celebrate their achievements, and be part of an important milestone in our community.

Building Brave Voices is a first-of-its-kind production that aims to entertain, inspire and unite the people of Clarens.

Beyond the production itself, we dream of something bigger: building brave voices within our community through the arts.

Please Note:

• The event starts and finishes on the Clarens Square. As part of the production, patrons will walk in procession to the school and back, covering 750 m each way (1.5 km in total).


• The event concludes with the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Square.


• All proceeds from the event will be ploughed back into the ArtStart Clarens programme to mentor and develop young talent in the arts.


• Ample parking is available throughout the village.


• Please leave pets and refreshments at home.
