Step into the dark and discover a prehistoric world illuminated in a whole new way.

Join Clarens Dinosaur Hunting Expeditions for a special after-dark experience exploring dinosaurs, rocks and the hidden world of natural light.

We’ll begin with a short, fascinating look at dinosaurs after dark — including what scientists know about nocturnal behaviour and how the eyes of some dinosaurs were adapted for seeing in low-light conditions.

Local geologist Gideon Groenewald will be on hand to answer questions while visitors explore a glowing display of fluorescent rocks and minerals, including South African specimens, revealed under ultraviolet light.

Then it’s time to get your hands dirty with a Dig in the Dark, excavating our resident Aardonyx, Rocky — with a few glow-in-the-dark surprises along the way.

Expect fossils, fluorescence, lucky draws and a little prehistoric magic.

Space is limited to approximately 20 visitors, so booking is recommended.
