About the film:
Silent Witness is a story of SOWETO – dormitory township - established in the shadow of Johannesburg’s consciousness. Out of sight & out of mind - in 1956 Father Trevor Huddleston witnesses families uprooted from Sophia-town relocated to the township that would produce a generation who on 16th June 1976 refuse to remain silent. Not all witnesses speak loud - some bear witness through memory, through photographs, through endurance, or the choice to remain silent and not betray others. Silent Witness is not only about those who were seen — it is also about those who were overlooked, unheard, or forgotten.
Director: Kevin Harris
Duration: 23mins followed by a Q&A.
