About the Director
Hans Steinbichler (b. 1966 in Solothurn, Switzerland) is one of Germany’s most respected contemporary filmmakers. He studied law before turning to film at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). His debut Hierankl won the Grimme- Preis and Bavarian Film Award. Steinbichler’s work spans feature films, documentaries, and television, often exploring themes of memory, trauma, and human resilience. Notable works include Winter Journey, Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank, and The Unheard Woman. He has also taught directing at the Internationale Filmschule Köln.
