DRAGGING THE F-WORD BACK INTO THIRTY-SOMETHING
Critics have called it “fun with a capital F” and audiences have flocked to see it! Dragging 30 is being hailed the next best fun night out since the invention of a girls’ night out. This hilariously camp coming-of-age musical comedy will thrill you, no matter which side of 30 you're on. From catchy tunes, like "Dear Future Husband", “Raise Your Glass” and "Born This Way", to glittering costumes, both witty and sexy, you'll be screaming for more.
I think I'm turning into my parents." "I'm the last one of my friends who is still single." " What is this ache and is it fatal?" "SHOULD I pluck that grey hair?" "OK, Seriously, how is it only 9pm?" We all have that moment. That peculiar day when you wake up and realise that you’ve reached the “Big Three Oh My God how did I get here?”, “Dirty 30’s”, “Thirty Something... brilliant was supposed to have happened to me by now ”, “Thirty is the new 20," just with more botox and better bras. It sneaks up on you, leaving you with a sudden moment of horror. You’re officially an adult. And if you’re single, unsettled and childless, 30 appears to be even more terrifying. This coming of age musical comedy takes you on a somewhat crazy and comical journey through the eyes of two women, trying to come to terms with life’s third decade, whilst learning to love themselves and embrace their thirties.
With the help of the fabulous Drag Queen Extraordinaire, Shenay O’Brien, these two women realise that there is truly nothing more liberating than being yourself, living in the moment and owning your "fierce" at any age! One critic wrote about about Genna Galloway (Grease, Beauty and the Beast, Cats, Sound of Music), and Natasha van der Merwe (Mamma Mia, Sister Act, Spamalot, Peter Pan Pantomime), “The gorgeous devilish duo are most definitely South Africa's super-hot sizzling 'Ab-Fab' girls, offering a wonderful dose of humour, hilarious escapades and some powerhouse singing.”
Joining the cast is well known drag artist, Shenay O’Brien, (Jong Dames Dinamiet, Die van Aardes van Grootoor, Vellies & Feathers), who made history worldwide in 2015 by becoming the first drag performer to receive a “golden ticket” in the popular reality series, “Idols SA”, making it all the way to the top 16.
