IT'S MY ROAD
RUNNING TIME 11 MIN
Dadakoto has spent his working life hauling weighty canisters of water on his head for a pittance. Now the oldest water bearer on the road, he refuses to retire despite the physical challenges of the job.
I SHOT BI KIDUDE
RUNNING TIME: 74 MINUTES
…Or the curious kidnap of the world’s oldest singer. In 2012, Tanzanian singer, Bi Kidude – the fast-talking, chain-smoking, rebel-rocker – and the oldest performer on the world music stage – was kidnapped at a reported age of 102. In this extraordinary film, Jones follows up on his earlier Kidude biopic, Old As My Tongue, returning to Zanzibar as the accidental detective-film director and would -be interlocutor, determined to get to the bottom of the case. As the story progresses and the entanglements grow murkier, it’s Jones’ sheer love and awe of the great Kidude that shines through. The result is mystery story, a personal odyssey and fitting tribute to one of the greatest African singers of all time.
