ITALIAN FILM FOCUS: The Last One For The Road

The Bioscope is proud to present screenings as part of the 25th edition of The Italian Film Focus, the largest showcase of contemporary Italian Films In Africa. The screenings are in collaboration with the Ministry Of Culture of Italy MIC, The Embassy Of Italy in South Africa, The Consulate of Italy in Cape Town, and The Italian Cultural Institute In Pretoria.

Tickets are R80, and all films will be screened with subtitles.

The Last One For The Road (Le città di pianura)

Directed by Francesco Sossai. Roadtrip Comedy. Dur 1hr 38mins. 

From the Cannes Film Festival comes a touching comedy and Italian box office success featuring one of the country’s most acclaimed new actors, Filippo Scotti. The film tells the story of two broke, bar-hopping 50-somethings who meet a shy, aimless architecture student. Together, the three embark on a nocturnal journey across the Veneto region in search of their elusive “last drink.” Along the way, their encounters lead to unexpected moments of camaraderie and self-discovery, as the film gently explores friendship, life’s uncertainties, and the search for meaning in the later stages of life.

The film will be presented by one of the actors Filippo Scotti.
