The Jozi Film Festival is an annual event that showcases the latest films made by South African and international filmmakers in one of Africa’s most vibrant cities – Johannesburg. The seventh Jozi Film Festival will highlight the very best in filmmaking, presenting a multi-genre slate of films from emerging and established filmmakers, exploring a broad range of topics that affect our communities and stir our hearts and minds.

It’s Only True Love

It is modern day South African. The country ails from social unrest and constant protests. Amanda, a young woman from Mpophomeni Township, is living through this difficult time while struggling to take care of her sick mother and overcoming the trauma of a sexual assault.
Keys of Life

A young girl battles against the odds of an adult reality stuck in mourning by using the magic of her piano playing talents to bring back her missing father, a trapped illegal miner.
Mma Moeketsi
Dir: Rea Moeti / 20min
Based on a true story, Mma Moeketsi is a domestic worker from rural Lesotho working for a suburban family in Johannesburg. Her son Moeketsi is an illegal miner at the Marikana Platinum Mine, North West of South Africa. In the wake of the wage increase strike from 15 August 2012, Moeketsi’s phone is off and he is nowhere to be found. Mma Moeketsi can do nothing but wait pensively for her son to call her or at least pick up her phone calls.
