Le Movie Club Presents: Bande De Filles /Girlhood (2014)

Le Movie Club is an exciting new collaboration between The Bioscope Independent Cinema, The Alliance Française of Johannesburg and the French Institute of South Africa.

THURS 26 MAY 7:30 for 8pm

On the last Thursday of every month, immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures of French and Francophone films from around the world. Throughout the year there will be different themes such as African cinema, French comedy, Animation and Music. All the films are shown in French with English subtitles. Films provided by courtesy of Institut Français

BANDE DE FILLES (Girlhood)

Marieme has lived her sixteen years as a series of thou-shall-not’s: the neighbourhood censorship, the boys’ rule, the deadlock at school. Her encounter with three liberated girls changes everything. They dance, they fight, they speak loudly, they take life lightly. Marieme becomes Vic, joins the gang, and truly lives her youth.
