Le Movie Club is an exciting new collaboration between The Bioscope Independent Cinema, The Alliance Française of Johannesburg and the French Institute of South Africa.

On the last Thursday of every month, immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures of French and Francophone films from around the world. Throughout the year there will be different themes such as African cinema, French comedy, Animation and Music. All the films are shown in French with English subtitles. Films provided by courtesy of Institut Français

Sur Les Chemins de la Rumba

This documentary tracing Rumba’s history takes you on a journey along the African coast, from the Congo basin, Cuba, Ecuador, and to Ivory Coast in a trip drenched by the well-known musical notes, all the while melting this African musical art with the aspect and rhythms of the Congo basin, the sources that gave it its shape and soul.
