MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Imagine children who have no recollection of a holiday, or in fact, never having the privilege of going on holiday!

Yes, Dida and her younger siblings could not even grasp the concept!  As a result of the poverty in Bulgaria, and the fact that these little one’s “lost” their mother and saw their father succumb to poverty and illness, they never experienced such a “luxury.”  Matters deteriorated when they were taken in by a bitter old grandmother. “Sometimes,” Dida says, “she even throws us out of the house at midnight for no reason. It is very frightening − and cold. The moment we return from school, we must do chores. We’re never allowed time for friends or fun.”

When magic happened

“When Mission Without Borders came into our lives after Papa died, it was like a miracle. Things we would only dream of, started happening. Then, the most incredible thing of all … we were taken to Summer Camp!

“For the first time in our lives we knew what it was to be children. Oh, and the wonderful stories we learned at Sunday school about Jesus…”

At Summer Camp Dida also did a computer course, expanding her education and learning new skills. She also overcame her nervousness and gained a lot of confidence.
