MOZAMJOZI 'BEACH' PICNIC AT THE THUNDER WALKER, GANDHI SQUARE
JoburgPlaces has staged many legendary MozamJozi beach picnics in the city. On Sunday 28 October, MozamJozi returns to the city, but this time on Gandhi Square – right in front of the Thunder Walker with its Zwipi Underground Bar.

Enjoy a Sunday chill session in the sun on Gandhi Square from 12noon into the evening. Spend a leisurely day, enjoying casual ‘beach foods’, delectable dinks and DJ music right in the heart of the city.

Entrance tickets cost R75 per person. Table bookings with platter meals can be pre-booked. Limited meals will be available on site too, but best is to pre-book a table with food platters. Drinks will be served from a mobile bar on the square but also from the Zwipi Underground Bar.

Online ticket sales will open on Tuesday 25 September, however table bookings can already be done by emailing [email protected] or by sending a text/whatsapp to 082 894 5216.

NOTE THAT ACCESS TICKETS AND TABLE BOOKINGS WILL BE LIMITED TO 400 PEOPLE.

4 pieces of pan-fried fish, 8 fish cakes, potato wedges, house salad and pap chips with dipping sauces. 

The GRAND MozamJozi VEGETARIAN Platter [R300] (serves 4)
Vegetarian risotto, vegetarian deep-fried croquette, potato wedges, house salad, grilled vegetables and pap chips with dipping sauces.

Bars:
There will be a beer-bar on site, selling Mozambican 2M Beers, a cocktail stand with Mozambican-inspired drinks and our usual bar with a wide selection of beers, ciders, wines and spirits too. Note, there will be no table service for drinks. If you have not pre-ordered drinks, you will have to queue at the bar for drinks service.

The Thunder Walker with its Scatterlings Restaurant (in the making) and Zwipi Underground Bar is located at Somerset House on Gandhi Square, behind the Gandhi Sculpture. Limited paid parking will be available (details to be announced) but best is to make use of public transport.
