The Silent Throne invites audiences on a journey through music, power, and resilience.
Join the NWU Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, the 16th of August at 19:00 in the Sanlam Auditorium for a programme full of power, betrayal, dramatic tension and lyrical beauty. Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro Overture opens the stage with wit and rebellion, where voices challenge authority through cunning and grace. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61 follows, and we are extremely honoured to have Carli D’Alebout as the soloist for this legendary work that is an eloquent testament to the power of a solitary voice rising above.
The program culminates in Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony, evoking the mist and memory of Mary, Queen of Scots, and her tragic struggle for sovereignty. This evocative program explores the quiet strength of those who dare to defy, whose stories echo long after the throne falls silent.
