Cape Town, South Africa — Redress Burlesque Show takes place at The Galloway Theatre, at the Waterfront Theatre
School on Friday, 31 January 2020 at 20:30. In a South African first, Redress exclusively stars independent burlesque
artistes of Colour. The show creates new opportunities for representation and aims to establish new performance models
within the local burlesque community—seeking to establish new, and expand on existing platforms for performers of
Colour.
Burlesque, the performance art form of striptease with an emphasis on the tease, aims to promote body-positivity and
body-neutrality. Redress: The Power Edition unites independent Womxn of Colour burlesque artistes. Each performer,
unapologetically different, bringing their unique experiences to the stage––Reinforcing their agency, Reclaiming their
bodies, Redressing imbalance. Performers include the fearless and sultry Bon Bon, elegantly spicy Chilli D'Vine, bubbly
and oh-so cheeky Glitter Tush, and the slow-burn powerhouse that is Vita Nova, with sassy stage kitten Lacy Bittz
leaving nothing behind.
Singing sensation Marguerita Freeks, charmingly badass producer and sound tech Pillow Talk, and MC
extraordinaire Charlie French will accompany all the power moves and dancing shoes. Pre-show attractions include the
incredible work of local artist Mia Arderne.
Redress is a collaborative show, co-produced by Bon Bon and Vita Nova, two of Cape Town's top burlesque performers
and the first official burlesque queens in South Africa, crowned at Baby Grand Burlesque Festival.
