Reel to Reality Festival is an annual film festival run by Behind Her Lens Visuals, that aims to spotlight films made by filmmakers within the African diaspora, to showcase the past, present and future of diasporic cinema through strong voices in film. The festival aims to grant visibility and distribution to emerging voices and stories of African descent, across socio-political divides. We’re honoured to have Lamar Bonhomme's short film, iNdoda, close this year’s Reel to Reality festival.
Film synopsis:
Buhle is a rebellious teenager from the big city who is suspended from school after getting into a fight on the rugby field. His mother sends him into rural KZN for the duration of his suspension where he is disciplined by his grandfather through the rituals of rural life. He assimilates into Zulu culture, and rekindles his relationship with his absent father through indlamu, before he returns to the rugby field a changed man.
