Event Description
Special Screening of: The Shore Break

The Legal Resources Centre invites you to a fundraiser. We will be screening the winning documentary film, The Shore Break.

Directed by Ryley Grunenwald and co-produced with Odette Geldenhuys.

Two cousins from a rural community have opposing visions and plans to develop their homeland on South Africa's Wild Coast. The film is structured around an absorbing microcosm of the clash between tradition and “progress” when there are natural resources to be plundered. The Shore Break is an engrossing film exposing a standoff between corrupt pro-mining forces and a South African coastal community fighting to preserve their traditional way of life.

SUNDAY, 29TH MAY 2016 3.00pm Film Screening and Q&A with LRC lawyers. Refreshments will be served after the screening.

Proceeds will go to the Legal Resources Centre (LRC) whose lawyers are representing this isolated community on an ongoing basis. The LRC is a South African public interest law clinic and non-profit organisation which uses the law as an instrument of justice. The services of the LRC are free of charge to clients. For more information, see www.lrc.org.za.
