The French Institute of South Africa has invited the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival for a tour in South Africa. This aims to help create a long-lasting relationship between South Africa, France, and the growing sustainability of the African cinema.
The Clermont-Ferrand team have curated a 90-minute program of selected short films from the competition. Camille Varenne comes from Clermont-Ferrand to share this program; she is part of the International Committee of Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, a specialist on the circulation of African films in France and a documentary filmmaker.
The screening is comprised of three African films and three French films from the festival’s 2021-2022 selection, exploring diverse themes and genres, echoing the scope of the festival. At the heart of the programme is auteur cinema looking at the world in new and unique ways, telling stories that question social and contemporary issues.
