Event Description

Join us for a special screening of Brazilian Indigenous cinema.

Cinemaloka: Indigenous Cosmologies and Resistances presents a short film and a feature film produced in Brazil’s Southeast and North regions. The programme invites audiences to reflect on Indigenous ways of inhabiting the world, highlighting ongoing struggles, forms of resistance, and vital contributions in the face of contemporary global challenges.

The first film, Almost Everything About Our World (dir. Aryell Souza Silva, 2024), offers a sensitive portrayal of everyday life in Aldeia Tereguá through the perspective of children.

The second film, The Falling Sky (dirs. Eryk Rocha and Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha, 2024), presents the cosmology and political struggle of the Yanomami people, inspired by the book of the same name by Davi Kopenawa and Bruce Albert.

Following the screening, there will be a live debate with Brazilian researchers Rogério Borges (curator of the project) and Paola Prandini.
