PROGRAM OF THIS SESSION

Straight and in a Circle

Dir. Palina Ramashka (Belarus, 4 min)

An animation depicting the journey of forced migrants, highlighting the transformative power of empathy and integration. It captures the universal struggle of individuals seeking refuge and belonging in a new community.

Dam$els of Luxury

Dir. Jennifer Marie Cella (United States, 5 min)

Amanda and her clique are about to throw the greatest slumber party ever, but one guest is mysteriously missing. It's up to these chatty stoners to put their heads together and find Morgan.

Montanea

Dir. Charlotte Louis (France, 15 min)

A birth, a stay, a dusk. A man is searching for his place in the eternal cycle of life and death.

Intermission 15 min

Cherry On Top

Dir. Laura Reis (Brazil, 15 min)

A girl with a bunny head tries to escape from her hunted reality when she discovers a group of colorful and hungry girls to be a part of…but things are not as sweet as it seems.

Fig. 2 - Absence

Dir. Nika Hood (South Africa, 3 min)

A handmade, frame-by-frame meditation on loss and memory, created in honour of my grandfather and uncle, who both passed away from cancer in 2020. The film unfolds in stark monochrome, with a single bloom of colour drawn from photographs and sounds of them, allowing them to live on, if only for a moment, through film.

Soft Wings, Heavy Dreams

Dir. Katherine Drossopoulos (South Africa, 9 min)

A mixed-media anthology that delves into the vulnerabilities and fractured moments of the creative process in today’s digitally saturated landscape.

Post-screening Q&A with Filmmakers 15 min
