ANY OTHER SCREENINGS WILL BE LISTED HERE
Directed by: Mike Flanagan. Drama Fantasy Sci-Fi. Dur 1hr 50mins. 16 D L V – 110 min.
The film, an adaptation of the Stephen King novella, tells the story of Charles "Chuck" Krantz, a seemingly ordinary man whose life is celebrated as the world around him unravels. The film unfolds in reverse, starting with Chuck's 39th year and his death from a brain tumour, then tracing his life back to his childhood in a house with a history. The story explores themes of love, loss, and the ordinary joys and sorrows that make up a life.
Further notes from director Mike Flanagan - "If you look at Stephen King’s body of work, particularly titles like The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, he has always exhibited an incredibly humanistic approach to storytelling and has straddled a lot of genres beyond just horror, even though that is primarily what he is known for. In my own work, I've existed entirely within the horror genre for my whole professional career, but what he and I have in common is a deep love for human beings.
