THE LONG TAKE FILM CLUB
Films worth thinking about. People worth talking to. Monthly.
We screen standout cinema you won’t find elsewhere, then discuss it properly over beer and pizza. Curated by film curator and critic Deniz Sertkol and François Smit—who’ve spent their careers finding films that matter.
Not film theory. Just films that deserve your full attention, and conversations with people who give them exactly that. Monthly screenings for members and friends at The Bioscope.

A Kit Zauhar Evening
Helicopter (2016) and Actual People (2021)
Two films about the gap between who you think you’re becoming and who you actually are.
Helicopter: Two streams of consciousness come together in a college library. It’s about loneliness, the spark of a possible connection, and hope in postadolescence.
Actual People: A young woman moves through a few aimless days after graduating university — the kind where you’re supposed to have it figured out but mostly you’re just avoiding phone calls and pretending last night’s conversation meant something. Zauhar (who wrote, directed, and stars) captures that specific drift where everyone’s performing adulthood whilst secretly wondering if they’re doing it wrong.
Zauhar’s films share DNA with the patient character studies we watched in April — the same commitment to watching people actually behave rather than perform drama, the same trust that small moments reveal everything.
First film starts at 18:30.
Courtyard discussion over pizza and beers to follow.
