The University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestras presents UPSO Gala Concert 2026, featuring UP Symphony Orchestras conducted by Schalk van der Merwe and South African soprano Hanli Stapela. This programme brings together orchestral and vocal works from Beethoven, Franck, Dvořák, Saint-Saëns, and Strauss. 

The concert opens with Beethoven’s dramatic concert aria Ah! Perfido followed by Franck’s Symphony in D minor.
Following the interval, the programme continues with Dvořák’s “Song to the Moon” from Rusalka, followed by Saint-Saëns Danse macabre. The concert ends with three songs by Richard Strauss: Das Rosenband, Morgen!, and Cäcilie.

The Gala Concert programme combines symphonic, operatic, and vocal repertoire, showcasing the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestras alongside soprano Hanli Stapela.
