Carol started patchwork and quilting in the early 90’s and has never looked back.
She began teaching in 1996, and obtained her SAQG teachers accreditation 2014.
She has been invited to teach in Swaziland and Dubai and has taught in SA National Festivals in Port Elizabeth and Durban.
Carol enjoys teaching basics to beginners and technique classes to the more experienced quilters.
She is always looking for quick and easy methods and loves to share them.
Carol started a Facebook page during lockdown and shared the progress of her scrap busting lock down quilt as well as many techniques and ideas via short videos. (See ‘Carol’s Quilting Classes’ on Facebook)

TWO DAY CLASS THE TWO-STEP ( LEVEL - ALL)

In the first session, students will learn the very impressive technique of inserting a circle into a piece of fabric with a neatly stitched seam; clean, neat and flat. Single and overlapping circles will be taught. (Not an applique method). The Line Dance technique will be taught for the balance of the weekend. This amazing technique produces an interwoven design that appears far more complicated to construct than it actually is. Combining these two techniques and using the ‘Quilt As You Go’ technique, your table runner could be done by the end of the weekend! Once mastered, these techniques can then be applied to larger projects.

Requirements List:

• 60 cm main fabric (black in the photo example) - this includes binding.


• 25 cm of 5 other colours. (fat or long quarters)


• The fabrics should be a variety of values and colours that contrast with each other and do not “blur” together.


• Thin, soft batting: 22” x 42” Backing fabric: 22” x 42” (wof) Threads in appropriate colours.


• Optional Binding: 9” (25cm) only if you want to use a contrasting colour.


• Sewing machine in good working order with table (the one that comes with the machine).


• Sewing machine accessories and manual.


• Extension Flex and adaptor.


• Quarter inch foot and Walking foot.


• Zipper foot for your machine.


• Fabric scissors with sharp point.


• Paper scissors.


• Small glue stick.


• Spray glue if possible or quilters’ safety pins.


• Compass or any circular item e.g. large jar lid or CD to draw circles.


• Soft B pencil.


• Dark AND light marking pens / pencils / chalks.


• Little wooden iron or similar.


• Masking tape.


• Long ruler (24”)


• Sharp rotary cutter and spare blade.


• Medium or large cutting mat.


• Usual sewing notions. (Pins, threads, unpicker, etc.)


• Freezer paper if possible (teacher will bring a supply).
