Sally lives in the lovely coastal town of Scottburgh where, pre-covid, there was an active and motivated quilters guild. She feels very fortunate as a retired person to have her children and grandchildren nearby. She is an accredited South African quilt teacher and is able to practice both of her passions, quilting and teaching. She often runs courses from her home, where her classes are aimed towards, but not restricted to, beginners. Her vibrant personality makes Sally a very popular teacher.

TWO DAY CLASS BARGELLO SYMPHONY (LEVEL - ALL)

An invitation to create a unique “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The students will be guided through the bargello process each step of the way and the final result will be totally unique. It takes a LOT of sewing but the results are worth each stitch. There is no particular skill level required, just enthusiasm and the ability to sew a ¼” seam!!! With their instrument of choice, Bernina, Elna, ...... whatever, there may even be a sing along! It is very possible to take home a completed quilt top at the end of the weekend. The size of the quilt top without borders is approximately 150cm X 130cm or 60” x 50”.

Requirements List:

• FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
  1 x large jelly roll (40 strips) OR Forty 2 ½ “strips of assorted colours –2 or 3 of each colour, WOF


• Two strips contrasting colour 4 ½ ” WOF


• Two strips contrasting colour 6 ½” WOF


• These last two could be the same colour or different (Sally’s are different).

To maximise teaching time, all strips must be pre-cut before class!

• Border fabric 1.5m (6 ½ ” width)


• Binding, batting and backing not needed yet.


• SEWING REQUIREMENTS


• Sewing machine – cleaned, oiled, new universal needle (size 80) inserted


• Machine’s user manual


• A walking foot with a quarter inch foot plate – alternatively a quarter inch foot


• Thread to match fabric


• 3 pre-filled bobbins (at least!)


• Adaptor plug and extension cord


• Rotary cutter + spare blade


• Usual paraphernalia – scissors, needles, tape, unpicker, etc


• Large A1 size cutting mat.


• 24 inch or 12 inch quilting ruler
