The work of the “Tentmakers of Cairo” (which is also the word for tents) has a lot in common with 
quilts. It is needle-turned appliqué, where the cotton canvas takes the place of batting and there is a 
background fabric tacked onto it, then sometimes several other background colours, and finally the 
wonderful patterns. Technically it is three or more layers joined together by stitch.

The Tentmakers of Cairo have become a worldwide phenomenon for their spectacular handappliquéd designs based on their rich cultural heritage. In this class you will go through all the steps 
you need to follow to create a design like theirs, from making and marking the pattern to starting to 
stitch your own beautiful creation. Come to this class to learn just how to Stitch Like an Egyptian.

Patterns, All required fabrics. (if you prefer any other colours then you can bring your own favourite colour.) Canvas,Pencil, Brown paper and a needle.
