DETAILED COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Tilly is going to show you how to have a zero-waste policy by using your machine compost! Tilly will 
share all her knowledge of thread painting; the dos and don’ts of stabilizers and how to blend your
colours beautifully. Join her for a fun class.

Student Requirements:
Sewing machine in good working order – feed dogs must be able to be dropped or covered
Extension table
Extension cord and adaptor
Masking tape
An embroidery hoop of about 20 to 25cm diameter
FABRIC:
None! I know! Can you believe it?
THREADS:
Please have your machine embroidery threads chosen and ready to start so we don’t waste time 
choosing colours. Look at strelitzia flowers to help you decide on the colours for the embroidery 
threads.
Machine embroidery threads in three shades of orange ranging from very pale to dark orange.
Machine embroidery threads in two shades of brilliant blue (light and dark blue will do).
Machine embroidery threads in three shades of green (pale green into forest green).
Machine embroidery thread in white and a pinkish-red.
Machine embroidery thread in black.
Fill a bobbin with a neutral colour. (It is a good idea to use a fine thread in the bobbin but if you
don’t have, don’t worry too much about it.)
FEET:
Open toe embroidery foot/darning foot
NEEDLES:
Universal 90 or Jeans 90 or Machine embroidery needle 90
OTHER:
Some machine compost (the bits and pieces that you normally throw away when you sew. We’re
recycling!)
Basic sewing supplies
