303S Muslin Cloth Manipulations Sunday 7th July
Beverley Rebelo
 Session: 2x3hr
 Level: Intermediate

Bev Rebelo, from Harare, Zimbabwe, is a fibre artist and quilter. She has 35 years’ experience,
combining traditional techniques with experimental methods of quilting. Her detailed artwork
combines photography, fabric and thread play. African subjects, colours and landscapes provide the
creative inspiration that influence her designs. Her thread box is her paint palette, and her needle is
her brush. She embraces the meditative rhythm of hand sewing and quilting but enjoys the
spontaneous results of free motion machine quilting.

DETAILED COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will learn to use soft muslin cloth to create a sculptured
picture through manipulation and layering. The prepared picture will be applied to a background
fabric through free motion machine thread play. The finished block will be approximately A3 size.
Suitable for those with machine quilting skills and quilters who want to experiment.
Patterns for sculpture will be provided.
